From The Beginning
The Shoe Zoo was established in 2006 in the lovely seaside town Torquay by Peter and Claire French. The concept of the shop was born out of frustration at trying to find a good range of quality children’s shoes, fitted by caring staff for their first child. Their aim was to provide their customers with a wide selection of trusted brands of children’s shoes in a child friendly environment.
A Step Forward
In 2014, The Shoe Zoo outgrew its original shop and moved to brand new premises in St Marychurch, Torquay. This not only allowed for an even larger range of children’s shoes to be stocked but also the space to include a dancewear department and a coffee shop.
Bamboo Sandwich & Coffee Bar
Our coffee shop is open 7 days a week and provides good coffee and teas and delicious homemade cakes and cream teas. It also has a varied selection of sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, jacket potatoes, salads and more. Make sure you leave enough time to enjoy a treat when you visit the shop!
First Steps
At The Shoe Zoo we have a strong, child friendly ethos and we believe that the experience of being measured and fitted for new shoes shouldn’t be stressful for the child or the parent. We recognise the importance of correctly fitting children’s shoes right from the start, therefore we offer a special package for little ones who visit the shop for their first pair of shoes. Each child will receive a photo keepsake and a voucher for a free coffee and cake in our café for their grown up!
Dancewear
Our dancewear department stocks a wide range of dancewear and dance shoes for all types of dance from beginners through to professionals. Pointe shoe fitting appointments areavailable with fully trained dance teachers. Please view our dedicated webpage below.
